EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Please take the time to review the following informatiuon and the emergency evauation procedures located on the back of your room door. If you have any questions of require a medical professional, please call the front desk.

UPON CHECK-IN:

  • Locate the nearest fire exits
  • Count and remember the number of doors between the exits and your door
  • Open the exit doors and examine the staircase layout
  • Locate the nearest alarm pull station and fire extinguisher

IN YOUR ROOM:

  • Study the layout of your room, and determine anything that might help or hinder possible emergency exiting
  • Read all of the fire emergency information provided, including the layout on the back of the room door
  • Always keep your room key accessible

EVACUATION PLAN
Please be prepared. Know the location of stairway exits and fire alarms. In case of fire, do not use elevators. If you’re ordered to evacuate your room, exit with caution. Feel the door.

IF THE DOOR IS NOT HOT:

  • Open it slightly and look in both directions for the nearest exit sign
  • Take your room key, exit the room, and close the door behind you – if smoke is present, stay low
  • Walk to the nearest stairway (do NOT use the elevator), and exit the building

IF THE DOOR IS HOT:

  • Do not open it
  • Call the fire department (911), and give them your location: Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel, 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi, Michigan 48375
  • Call the hotel operator (0)
  • Stuff wet towels or clothes under the door and in air vents to keep out smoke and fumes
  • Remain calm and wait for further instructions

If you cannot exit, your room is the safest place to be. If you need to open a window for air and you are above the ground floor, avoid breaking the window. This will allow you to close the window if you need to keep smoke out later.

IF YOU DISCOVER FIRE OR SMOKE INSIDE YOUR ROOM:

  • Call the fire department (911), and give them your location: Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel, 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi, Michigan 48375
  • Call the hotel operator (0)
  • Take your room key, exit the room, and close the door behind  you
  • Alert others in the area
  • Activate the nearest fire alarm
  • Walk to the nearest stairway (do NOT use the elevator) and exit the building – if smoke is present, stay low

SAFETY MEASURES
If you notice anything suspicious during your stay or need any special assistance, don’t hesitate to contact the General Manager.

NO SMOKING
All of our guestrooms are nonsmoking spaces. If signs of smoking are found, a $250 cleaning fee will be charged.

ROOM KEY
Treat your room key like your house key. If your lose your room key or it’s stolen, report it to the front desk right away. When you check out, leave your room key with the front desk. Please don’t leave your room key in your room.

DOORS AND WINDOWS
Your room door is equipped with a double locking system. Lock the door from the inside when you’re in your room, and use the safety latch. Be sure your room door is locked and secure any openings to balconies or patios before leaving your room.

SAFE-DEPOSIT BOXES
Please don’t keep valuables in your room or in parked vehicles. Complimentary safe-deposit boxes are available at the front desk.

IN-ROOM SAFES
Complimentary safes are located inside the closet in your room. Under state law, the hotel is not responsible for loss unless items are stored in safe-deposit boxes at the front desk.

ROOM ENTRY PERMISSION
Never admit repairpeople or strangers without checking with management. Never admit people with unsolicited deliveries.
Always use the door viewer to identify all callers.

SHARING INFORMATION
Don’t reveal the name of your hotel or room number to strangers. Never discuss your plans for staying away from the hotel in front of people you don’t know.

LUGGAGE
Please don’t leave your luggage unattended while checking in or out.
